SHOWERS OF HOPE AT GREATER ACCRA NASPA CONGRESS 2018

The Regional Congress of the Greater Accra National Service Personnel Association for the 2017/2018 year running was staged at the Ghana National Association of Teachers Hall (GNAT Hall) in Accra. The program ran from morning to afternoon with two divisions.

Part One of this much awaited Congress, saw two promising speakers addressing District delegates of the Region, District NSS Directors, The Regional Director and her entourage, Representatives from the Headquarters of the National Service Scheme, The Media and the general public.

The theme of the event was; *Reducing Unemployment Amongst the Youth With Entrepreneurship; A Means To An End.*

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan, Lawyer John Kumah gave a presentation on the entrepreneurship and the waves the government of Ghana is making to encourage the Youth to venture. He stressed on the fact that, the future of the Nation lies on the Youth and as such whatever initiative which arrives from his outfit is ideally Youth-centered.
However, he made numerous mentions of the fact that, National Service Personnel Nationwide should place themselves well to venture into Entrepreneurship as its one of the sure means of eradicating Unemployment and creating avenues for other youths as well.
Districts delegates enquired after his soul soothing presentation about how a service personnel could place himself or herself well to embrace Entrepreneurship. He reverted with the hopes that the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan has some structures put in place to aid the Youth especially the  National Service Personnel.
He however acknowledge the fact that, he was in the know of the upcoming Entrepreneurship Challenge carefully structured by the Regional NASPA executives and promised enormous support from his outfit.
He urged district delegates to encourage service personnel within their space to take advantage.
Lawyer John Kumah finally hinted audience that, his outfit will initiate a concept just like the Nations Builders Corps soon.

Later on, Mr. Anthony Akwatia-Mensah, C.E.O Premium Realty also made a presentation on Entrepreneurship and what is required of the National Service Personnel. He urged service personnel to always acquire skills that's essential to fit in the 21st Century. He ended, by saying that he is open to mentor the youth who will avail themselves.

Madam Anastasia Zanu,  the Regional Director of the National Service Scheme who was the chairman of the function  also made mention of the National Service Personnel and the kind of opportunities available to them. She stressed on the apathy level Amongst NSP's and the need to bring it to a halt.

Part 2 of the Congress saw a sitting of the district delegates and the regional executives discussing frontiers of moving the Association.
Districts reports were read and tete-a-tete resolutions ended the whole Congress.
