NASPA ALERT - ADA WEST HOLDS GIRL CHILD TALK

Ms. Huldah Twum, the Women's Commissioner for Ada West NASPA,  in her bid to reduce teenage pregnancy organized a Girl Talk program for JHS girls in selected schools in the Ada West District.

The program had health practitioners from the Ghana Health Service as well as resource personnel from the Social Welfare and Community Development Department as the main speakers for the occasion. Topics that were discussed included; _teenage pregnancy and its effects, abortion, menstruation and how to observe personal hygiene during those periods_.

Over 200 girls from Sege Community No. 1A&B, Sege Community No. 2 JHS and Sege Presby No. 1 JHS were present. The program was very educative as the students freely expressed their opinions on issues and asked questions that had been bothering them for years.

NGOs such as the Kyereh Foundation and the Young African Women Network were also present to grace the occasion.  Sanitary pads were also given freely to the girls by the Kyereh Foundation.

The program was a successful one as the Ghana Education Service collaborated well.
