Tales of An NSS Teacher:  Today  Another beautiful day is here again for an NSS teacher. That’s the thing about my new neighbourhood where I wake up to a beautiful display of nature. Today, like every other day, I stood on my verandah to receive the cool morning breeze, scented with vegetation freshness. Even the sun comes up in grand style—carefully shooting out its rays, hitting the trees, and reflecting on the leaves. The result is a set of beautiful patterns on the ground. Then carefully, it rises into full roundness, as if to say “Hey there, Good morning”!  READY FOR SCHOOL TODAY I am seated on the Okada (motorcycle, bike), once again with awide-eyed kind of expectation for the day. Ermm….for the classroom sounds more like it. Whisking past houses and passengers seated on okadas, it occurs to me how my fantasies about rural areas play before my eyes each day. Ha! NASPA ALERT - ADA WEST HOLDS GIRL CHILD TALK Ms. Huldah Twum, the Women's Commissioner for Ada West NASPA,  in her bid to reduce teenage pregnancy organized a Girl Talk program for JHS girls in selected schools in the Ada West District. The program had health practitioners from the Ghana Health Service as well as resource personnel from the Social Welfare and Community Development Department as the main speakers for the occasion. Topics that were discussed included; _teenage pregnancy and its effects, abortion, menstruation and how to observe personal hygiene during those periods_. Over 200 girls from Sege Community No. 1A&B, Sege Community No. 2 JHS and Sege Presby No. 1 JHS were present. The program was very educative as the students freely expressed their opinions on issues and asked questions that had been bothering them for years. NASPA Accra Metro Swims Along Tides Of Change With National President. To defend a worthy cause and make it a dominant in the society in which we live is the attitude which has been shown by NASPA -Accra Metro. The flagship Hands Out Project which has had its seeds sown in some parts of the Greater Accra Region and yet to hit some parts of Northern Ghana, has been upheld by the biggest district in Ghana. The entourage which made the donations included the district executives, committee heads, National Service Personnel, the district director GES and some stakeholders in the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. The President of NASPA- Accra Metro Collins Odeneho Agyapong expressed that, the hands out project was one which he strongly held in high esteem and as such he and his abled executives could not sit without implementing such a kind in the district. The challenge dubbed i - start presents an opportunity for all National Service Personnel to be trained on how to write business proposals, pitch a business, get investors and also how to raise funds to start a business. HANDS OUT PROJECT TO HIT NORTHERN GHANA The worthwhile initiative which saw the light in some remote areas in the nation's capital Accra is set to hit the northern parts of the country. With its impactful nature, its sustainability comes to bear and as such, the National Headquarters of the National Service Personnel Association shall embark on yet another promising phase. Hands Out is giving back to society to impact the livelihood of individuals in a society, taking into consideration highlited needs of the group of individuals in a given space. The National outreach will see NASPA executives reaching out to final year basic school students who shall be writing their Basic Education Certificate Examination in about a fortnight. NABCO FINALLY GIVES GREENLIGHT TO NSP's NATIONWIDE . In a consultative meeting held by the National Union of Ghana Students on the 10th of May 2018, some reforms with the structure of NABCO were aired. Reforms which were to give hope to the already disturbed National Service Personnel nationwide about their exemption in the Nation Builders Corps. (NABCO). Present in the meeting were the National President of the National Service Personnel Association,  Executives of Local NUGS in mostbtertiary campuses, and also the SRC of some tertiary institutions across the country. According to the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) who were the conveynors, the meeting was intended to offer an avenue for Student Leaders to be engaged and further briefed on this all important initiative which is intended to engage about a Hundred Thousand (100,000) graduates to reduce the Graduate Unemployment rate in our beloved Nation. SHOWERS OF HOPE AT GREATER ACCRA NASPA CONGRESS 2018 The Regional Congress of the Greater Accra National Service Personnel Association for the 2017/2018 year running was staged at the Ghana National Association of Teachers Hall (GNAT Hall) in Accra. The program ran from morning to afternoon with two divisions. Part One of this much awaited Congress, saw two promising speakers addressing District delegates of the Region, District NSS Directors, The Regional Director and her entourage, Representatives from the Headquarters of the National Service Scheme, The Media and the general public. The National Service Personnel Association of Ghana congratulates the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo, for his Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) initiative launch today. The National President of the Association, Allen Obeng Asare (Mr), in a released and signed statement on Tuesday congratulated the President of the Republic for his commitment towards the reduction of graduate unemployment in the country on the occasion of the launch of Nation Builders Corps programme. “The National Service Personnel Association of Ghana (NASPA) on the occasion of the launch of the Nation Builders Corps programme adds its voice in congratulations to H. E. Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo for his commitment to reduce the spate of unemployment in the country”, the statement noted.
